Calvert Trust Exmoor has continuously provided a tremendous service and dedicated care to the disabled community for some 25 years including our highly acclaimed equine facility but now faces the greatest challenge to its future through the impact of Coronavirus and we are seeking your help.
We are a fully accessible, BHS-approved riding establishment. We have our own on-site stables housing 12 horses and ponies, indoor arena and viewing gallery, as well as a purpose-built outdoor ménage. For those unable to ride, we also have adapted wheelchair accessible carriages.
Following Government advice, we have put strict measures in place to protect the interests of our vulnerable guests/visitors, together without dedicated staff and have reluctantly taken the decision to temporarily close the centre including the equine facility to guests and visitors with immediate effect from 20th March 2020.
Whilst we are of course prioritising the safety of our staff, guests and visitors and joining the nationwide fight to defeat this pandemic, the financial implications of the virus and the potentially damaging impact on our future viability is huge. We are totally reliant on income generation from our guests/visitors and also the very generous support of those who provide donations for people to visit the centre including the stables.
Despite our continuing efforts and the measures we have put in the place, to mothball the centre, this unprecedented pandemic is placing an enormous strain on the charities finances and we need your help now more than ever to ensure that we can continue to care for our very special horses and ponies throughout this crisis and beyond when we look forward to welcoming our guests and visitors back.
