Story
In 1434, St Ia Parish Church finished constructing its large church from what was once a small chapel started by an Irish missionary called St Ia (which is where the word "St Ives" comes from). Situated on the North Coast of Cornwall, St Ia Parish Church is in the middle of the town center adding to an already rich history of culture and arts. Now a travel and tourism hot spot, St Ia church see's tens of thousands of people walk through its doors throughout the summer holiday period alone, and is home to a faithful worshiping community of local peoples. The large tower, which can be seen across the St Ives bay, and is well documented through arts, TV and photographs, is where the St Ives clock sits and up until recently was a fully functioning clock used by locals and visitors alike. Unfortunately, due to the age and historicity of the clock, it has stopped working and needs a lot of repairs to get it back up and running again. This clock will cost a total of £36,000 to mend, and so this JustGiving page is to help towards the restoration the town clock and to help it start ticking again.
