Story

Being homeless or temporarily housed makes people vulnerable and is caused by inequalities, and inequality goes hand in hand with prejudice. We want to build a place with the people we support using their strengths to improve their own health, wellbeing and standing in the community. From this we can then begin to focus on building skills and working together to offer the community a social enterprise and or health and wellbeing centre, that builds bridges between groups of people, and reduces stigma, shame, guilt and fear.

We want to contribute to a fairer and more strength-based society, help us reach that goal

St Anne’s Community Services provides a wide range of quality services for people who require support for one or more reasons. We work with people who have a learning disability, have mental health problems, have issues around substance use - drugs and/or alcohol - or who are or have been homeless. Services include a variety of housing & accommodation based support and care, day services and community based support. St Anne’s Community Services is a major provider of services across the whole of Yorkshire & the North East. As a charity St Anne’s Community Services promotes independence and support clients to enhance their abilities and skills in order that they can take a more active role in the community. We work in consultation with clients, their families, advocates and other professionals to create a unique ‘Person Centred Plan’. This plan sets objectives which reflects the individual goals and aspirations of clients and sets out the support required to meet these..
