Story
We feel it is important that our supporters and donors know where their money goes when they donate to St Pauls. So this Christmas we are launching a number of ways you can support the charity in specific ways. Secure in the knowledge that 100% of your donation goes directly towards supporting beneficiaries of St Pauls Hostel.
Every year, we all receive and send, lots of Christmas cards. It is lovely to receive them and indeed to send them, to let people know were thinking of them, especially those we dont see too often. But what happens to those cards afterwards?
We may keep a few of the most precious ones, upcycle them into next years gift tags or recycle them. Some cards, however cannot be recycled and therefore they usually find their resting place in the weekly rubbish collection. At St Pauls we send out over 300 cards each year to our supporters and we receive a lot of lovely cards also, for which we thank you.
This year however, we are doing things differently; we will be sending our charitys seasons greeting electronically, via email, on our website and other social media platforms and in our December eNewsletter.
As a Senior Management team we have also agreed that instead of sending Christmas Cards, we will be making a donation to St Pauls. We would to invite you to do the same. If you work for an organisation, why not suggest Donating your seasons greetings? We have created a JustGiving page specifically and we will post messages left from time to time. We have also designed an email banner and email that you can use to share with friends, family and colleagues.
Donate your seasons greetings
All donations from this campaign will support our residents who are Peer Support volunteers. We have one Peer Support Volunteer who also lives at St Pauls hostel. The role use lived experience of homelessness (or addiction or bereavement) to engage and encourage other residents to change. Practically they help staff every day and take on important tasks for example helping a new person settle into the hostel or their new home, accompanying to the GP or other health appointment. Using people with lived experience is not a new idea nor is new to St Pauls but giving them tasks and responsibilities in direct support of staff is. They are an important part of the tool box to help a persons recovery.
When donating, post your message to your team, friends, family and we will put these out on our social media platforms from time to time and in our December eNews
