Story
Each summer New College Worcester has a fantastic team of individuals that take on challenges to raise funds for the College. In 2021 they did the 'Three Peaks' and in 2022 they bravely canoed over 80 miles over 3 days and raised an incredible amount of money for NCW.
This year, a brave team of four (James, Simon, Brook and Gys) have set themselves the immense challenge of not only climbing Mount Snowdon but climbing Mount Snowdon at night!
They will climb the highest mountain in England and Wales (an impressive 1085m) using torches to light their way and having the moon as their backdrop. Summiting at night adds an extra layer of difficulty to an already recognised charity trek.
This is an epic adventure and challenge and will require them to train hard over the next few months.
They hope to raise as much money as possible for New College Worcester. A charity which is close to their hearts.
NCW is a national, residential, special School and College for young people aged 11 to 19 who are blind or vision impaired.
Every student at NCW has a tailored programme, carefully planned and delivered to meet their individual needs in three key areas; academic achievement, independent living skills and involvement in extracurricular activities.
The opportunities provided to students in these three areas of provision play a crucial role in the development of confidence and self-esteem as well as preparing for life beyond our College.
The majority of our students school fees are paid by their own local authority. This covers the cost of their education and residency and any one-one support a student may need.
However, the costs associated with general maintenance, unexpected repairs, the school refurbishment programme, school vehicles and most trips and activities are paid for by the School, supported as much as possible by our Fundraising department.
We are always very grateful to receive donations that in some way helps to provide our students with the facilities, opportunities and experiences they deserve.
