Story
In a constantly changing world Sheffield Cathedral has had to change and adapt to make ends meet. The Cathedral is not immune to the challenges of Covid-19 so this year has been particularly difficult.
People have been gathering on the site of Sheffield Cathedral for nearly 1,000 years and it is no stranger to dark days. In the 13th Century the building was burned down by rebels. It witnessed the destruction wrought by civil war and survived suffering caused by pestilence and plague. Eighty years ago this month, bombs fell around the Cathedral during the Sheffield blitz. Today, as everywhere else, the Cathedral is being forced to operate in the midst of the COVID pandemic and overcome the challenges this brings.
The Cathedral is resilient. It has always been a beacon of hope for the community, welcoming everyone who seeks peace, hope and tranquility within. People have also always been there for the Cathedral in times of need. This is one of those times.
We hope you enjoyed exploring the Christmas Tree Festival on our website and through the virtual tour. There is no charge for this but if you would like to make a voluntary donation to help the Cathedral host more FREE events and activities in the future for you, for your friends and for your family to enjoy, your gift will be gratefully received.
Whatever darkness we may have to face, with your help Sheffield Cathedral will always be a place where people can find the light.
Thank you for your support.
