In a quest to not get so exhausted whilst playing for Windsor Hockey Club and (maybe) out pace the younger opposition players, I took up running in 2022.
I've now challenged myself to complete the Windsor Half Marathon.
More importantly, this has given me the opportunity to raise vital funds for The Baby Bank - an amazing charity that has been helping families in extreme need across Berkshire and the surrounding areas since 2015.
The Baby Bank was set-up by 2 volunteers who recognised that not all parents were fortunate enough to have the support of friends and family. Their goal was to ensure all children have the best possible start in life.
The Baby Bank helps young families without prejudice via its network of midwives, social workers and other professional family support workers.
In its first year, The Baby Bank provided clothing and essential equipment to 200 individuals. Last year, a 14-strong team of volunteers have helped 5,000 individuals.
The Baby Bank is a charity run by my wife (Rebecca) and Lauren. They are supported by a team of trustees and rely on volunteers, donations and fund-raising to meet an (unfortunately) increasing demand for their services.
If you wish to make a donation, I'd be extremely thankful for it. More information about how it will help The Baby Bank can be found on their website: www.thebabybank.org.
Thank you
Sebastian
The 2022 Windsor Half Marathon was cancelled and various subsequent injuries and diary constraints had put a hold on my attempts to run the Half Marathon distance.
However, I still wanted to get the run done especially with all your generous sponsorships and words of encouragement.
The current arctic weather was the final straw to make it happen!
I was pretty much able to follow the same Windsor Half Marathon route apart from the section that passes through private land. This was my first time at covering this kind of distance so was very happy with my time - 1 hour 43 minutes and 27 seconds with no stops.
Thank you again for your donations to The Baby Bank - your contributions are already being put to work to ensure young families get the help and support they need.
