Alhamdulilah with the blessings of Allah SWT we have been warranted permission by Leicester City Council to go ahead and organize the Eid Festival at Victoria Park this year, following the relaxation of the Covid-19 restrictions. Alhamduilah, with your open heartedness and generous support we have been able to organize this public, family event each year since 2014. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, we have been denied this opportunity for the last three Eids, which makes it even more important to ensure that the Eid festival definitely takes place this year.

We were only informed of the Councils decision late on the 6th of July and as Covid-19 is still a risk, their requirements for staffing, sanitization and other aspects are very challenging.gg As a result, sadly this means that due to the high demands, costings to run this event in the safest way possible, adhering to the safety measures, have doubled.

Previously festivals would cost around £15,000, however due to the new demands from the council we now approximate a cost of £33,000. We have already applied for grants and appealed to businesses to kindly support us. Nonetheless, in the meantime your continuous support and generosity is still required.

The breakdown of all the costings have been outlined below. We have already raised £16,000, Alhamdulilah. This highlights an outstanding amount of £15,000- an amount we urgently plea to you, our generous donors to help us raise. This will help enable opportunities for family and friends to finally reunite for Eid, re evoke the magic of Eid in our children and strengthen the Leicester Muslim community ties. If the Eid Festival takes place this year, it will also guarantee the continuous running of the Eid Festival in the upcoming years.

MashaAllah, Leicester has a Muslim population of over 60,000 which means reaching this small target of £15,000 is very achievable. If EACH individual of a household was to donate JUST £10, we would be able to make it all happen. So, brothers and sisters lets all come together, unite and make Eid-ul-Adha 2021 a memorable one.
