Story
The architect of St Michael's, William Douglas Caröe (1857-1938), was a leading church architect at the end of the C19 and in the early C20. . His grandest and finest church is St David's in Exeter. In a book "The Buildings of England: London 2: South (1983) St Michael & All Angels is described as 'outstanding among Caroë's suburban churches......The refinement of the interior is astonishing because it is unexpected and so skilfully managed'.
In order to keep this beautiful building and living community church open and accessible to all, we need to raise funds for building works to St Michael & All Angels Church. We are facing a considerable expenditure on our roof and other high-level works on the church exterior. St Michael & All Angels does not exist for its own benefit. It is part of the work of God in South Beddington. Your contribution, however large or small, will ensure the continuation of our work in this place. St Michael & All Angels has been a place of prayer for over a hundred years and we are confident that, with your help, we can continue to be here for the next hundred years.
