Story
We are raising funds to support Scottish Ski Club kids to train and race abroad with charity Alpine Training Centre SCIO. Historically the Scottish Ski Club community of ski racers have done well nationally and internationally with many being selected to the National team and some going on to represent Team GB at the Olympics. Due to the changing conditions and the expense of training our talented youngsters are finding it increasingly difficult to finance their training.
Background
SSC members Lara and Sean Langmuir have transitioned their popular ski racing camp business, ATC, into a registered Scottish Charity (SCIO). This Charity has created a new bursary programme to raise money to support young ski racers. One of these bursaries is The Scottish Ski Club Bursary and it will be awarded on an annual basis to deserving young SSC club racers.
Sean explains "Last year SSC member and Olympic skier Charlie Guest (pictured above) told us that without the help of a bursary she received when she was a teenager she would not have been able to stay competitive, and wouldn't have continued in the sport. That bursary was a game changer for her. This type of crucial financial support is no longer available, which is why we are starting this bursary program. It is an important incentive to help kids like Charlie continue in the sport"
"`By turning ATC into a registered Charity we can access funding and gift aid, to boost your donations. We are also raising money to provide other bursaries which can also be accessed by SSC kids."
Support
The Scottish Ski Club with your help, would like to support this initiative and create a specific bursary for Scottish Ski Club kids to help them access the best training and racing in the Alps. Both ATC and SSC share the same community values like fun, working hard and being a good team member. We also believe that a life in skiing builds great character, resilience and life long friendships.
Donations to the Scottish Ski Club ATC Bursary will directly support SSC racers to train and race abroad. As your donation is going to a charity, it will also be eligible for Gift Aid increasing your donation by 20%.
Applications
We are aiming to raise in the region of £25,000 for a three year term. The bursaries in the first instance will be targeted towards 13-15 year old SSC racers who need support to complete their training programmes. Depending on funding we aim to award 6 one week camp bursaries. The training will be provided by the newly formed charity Alpine Training Centre SCIO.
Thank you for your support.
