Story
21 years ago, the SOS Bus made its first appearance in the centre of Norwich, to provide a safe space for people out and about on a Friday and Saturday night.
Since then, the SOS Bus, has become part of the Prince of Wales Road landscape at the weekends, helping anyone who's wellbeing is threatened, reducing unnecessary call outs to the emergency services and easing the pressure on them during peak times.
This essential service is a charity, run almost entirely by a team of amazing volunteers and managed by Voluntary Norfolk.
Every Friday and Saturday from 9.30pm to 3.30am, five volunteers and dedicated security, paramedic and first aider are the first point of contact for anyone needing a safe, non-judgmental help.

Over the 21 years the service has been running over 12,500 people have been helped on the bus and a further 40,000 assisted with phone charging, plasters, bottles of water, condoms, advice and signposting. Each year it is estimated that the bus saves the ambulance service around £270,000.

It costs just under £1500 to run each shift and although the SOS Bus service receives funding from the NHS and Public Health the grants do not cover all of our annual running costs which is why we continue to fundraise.
Every pound donated will help us continue to provide a vital service to Norwich and help us develop and sustain the SOS Bus for years to come.
Thank you for your support!
