UPDATE (10th May 2021) - we are amazed and so pleased to be over target and this now means we should be in a position to get really robust security for the Hut. Here's more details on the plans - strengthen the rear gate frame (current one is damaged), flat roof repairs (as the vandals went up there), replace the chain link fence at the front and replace with a solid wooden fence, reinforcing the gate posts, plus CCTV if there is enough funds - one that is wired and recorded.

The Sawbridgeworth Girl Guiding Hut and grounds have been vandalised 3 times recently - with doors & gates forced open, door frames broken, fire wood boxes smashed up, outdoor furniture damaged and other upsetting mindless destruction (full details see below). The third act of vandalism even undid some of the remedial works that had already been done, undoing the good work & wasting the time of the volunteer Leaders; this is time that should be spent on the girls in Sawbridgeworth & High Wych Girl Guiding, preparing the summer term activites & beyond.

Our immediate focus is therefore fund raising for the remedial works, improving security (we cant bear for this to happen again) & upgrading the outdoor furniture with some clever benches that turn into picnic tables so the girls can really enjoy outdoor socialising, which is now more important than ever given ongoing risks of covid19.
