Story
In Summer 2023, more than 40,000 Scouts from all over the world will unite in Korea for the 25th World Scout Jamboree for ten days of teamwork and personal development, along with the chance to visit Seoul and other cities of culture. The World Scout Jamboree (WSJ) is a World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), which happens every four years, each time hosted by a different country. Were so proud that we have been nominated to represent our district and be part of the thousands of UK young people aged 14 to 17 and their leaders visiting South Korea as the UK Contingent.
Our Contingent are more than just travel buddies. We are planners, fundraisers, motivators and mentors; we dream about an inclusive and sustainable world. However, were not just about dreaming: Scouts want to see action too. Our UK Contingent wont silently creep round global issues; well be trailblazers for getting young voices heard. Together with global, regional and national partners, the Jamboree programme will be comprised of activities that engage young people in learning about the Sustainable Development Goals.
As we hope you will agree, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for us to join with fellow Scouts across the world to learn how to make a difference and become active citizens, taking positive action for peace and sustainable development in our communities.
Each attendee needs to raise £4,000 to participate, which we are required to raise ourselves; part of this will support scouts from less economically developed countries in their quest to attend. We already have many exciting fundraising events planned in the coming months including cake and sweet sales, selling handmade and donated items at boot fairs and online, race nights, a curry night and many more, but we desperately need your help. We sincerely hope that you will be willing to support our journey and be a vital part of this life changing experience so that we can, in turn, make a difference to future generations.
