Remembrance Garden Campaign

After 60 years of bereavement service to the people of Swindon, we have had to close our Rose garden to further burial of ashes as it is now full. We are continuing our commitment however by opening a new Remembrance garden and welcome donations.

Christ Church welcomes visitors from the whole community. We are one of the oldest working Grade II * listed buildings left in Old Town Swindon. Our church and gardens are open every day for everyone to enjoy quiet reflection or prayer.

Story

Christ Church with St Mary has one of the largest bereavement ministries in the diocese. The closure of our current Rose Garden means that we need to build a new Garden of Remembrance for the interment of ashes. We are creating a new, level grassed area to the S.E. corner of the church. The new area is being carefully landscaped and will provide space for the burial of ashes for years to come. Those whose ashes are interred in the garden can be remembered in our Book of Remembrance which is kept in the church near the Lady chapel. Visitors can also light a candle to remember their loved one. There will also be a seat at the rear of the garden for quiet reflection.

The current projected cost is £15,000 - £20,000. With this in mind we are looking for sponsors or donors to help towards funding the works, which we hope will be completed in October. If you would like to discuss the project then please contact parishoffice@christchurchswindon.co.uk or telephone 01793 522832
