Story
We are organising a fundraiser in memory of Michael Stokes. Michael was an incredible child. He lived with a condition called Osteogenesis Imperfecta (often known as Brittle Bone Disease). However, he never let this get in the way of his absolute joy and excitement for life. His personality was infectious and he made an impact on everyone he met.
Michael was loved by the Irish nation following numerous TV appearances (Temple Street Childrens Hospital on TV3, Room to Improve and the Late Late Show on RTE). After his life began in residential care, Michael came to live with Ann & Barry - this was the start of a beautiful love story.
Michael embraced life with a positivity and pure joy that many would envy. His love for music, drama and singing was pivotal in his life. He was a member of a performing arts group, an acting school and volunteered to sing at any opportunity.
Sadly, following an accident in March 2018, Michael spent 7 weeks in ICU in Temple Street where he received incredible medical care. Temple Street Hospital was always a very happy and safe place for Michael. We are forever grateful to Temple Street, not only for the care he received following his accident, but throughout his short life.
Michael had some great friends (aka the 6 eejits!) and it is with their help we have come together to remember him and to mark, what should be, his 21st Birthday in May. We are hosting a Fancy Dancy Disco for his friends and ours. Although it is so incredibly sad, we believe he will be with us in spirit.
We would be ever so grateful for any donations, big or small, that you would care to make in Michaels memory and to benefit the children in both ICU and Top Flat Ward in CHI at Temple Street.
Thank you. Ann & Barry
