Story
The war in Ukraine has created by far the largest refugee crisis in Europe since the Second World War and more people are fleeing Ukraine every day.
Through this appeal, the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF, the Freemasons Charity) and the United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE) are responding to the growing refugee crisis. Already, £500,000 has been awarded from this appeal to support the response with each of the following charities receiving £100,000:
1. The UK Committee for UNICEF
2. Plan International UK
3. The Refugee Council
4. British Red Cross
5. UK for UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency
In addition to this national appeal, the Masonic Charitable Foundation has awarded a further grant of £50,000 to help fund the work of the British Red Cross in providing essential aid to refugees.
Freemasons from Lodges across England, Wales and overseas have been sharing their own stories about volunteering, fundraising and donating at the local level. We are inspired by their efforts and proud to be able to join them in responding to this growing humanitarian crisis.
Your support will enable us to continue providing vital support. Thank you.
