Story

2023 is a very exciting year for us at the RSPCA Leeds, Wakefield & District Branch, as it is our 20th Anniversary! All of our achievements over the last 20 years have been made possible by the continued support of our community. As you may know, our branch is self funded, and so we rely entirely on the generosity of our supporters and income generated by our network of charity shops. With your support, we will be able to continue our vital work to care for many more abandoned, abused, and neglected animals throughout this year and beyond, here's to another 20 years!

This year, we need your help more than ever. Unfortunately, the cost of living crisis has had a major impact on our branch, with our bills and running costs increasing drastically; our electricity bill for our Animal Centre alone is estimated to be around £12,000 this year! Our bills for veterinary costs, drugs and rehoming costs increased by a staggering £32,000 in 2022, and sadly these will only increase further this year. Without your support, we may not be able to continue rehoming animals in need as we simply won't be able to afford it. We really need your support now more than ever to help us continue to care for the dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs in our local area.

Thanks to your continued support last year, we have been able to keep our doors open and our brilliant team of animal care assistants and volunteers continue to rehabilitate and re-home rescues that are now enjoying a second chance at happiness with their forever families. As we head into the New Year, rescue centres like ours are likely to see a rise in animals brought in that were bought as Christmas 'presents', that people are no longer able to cope with or can't afford to care for. With your continued support, these animals will always find a second chance at the RSPCA Leeds, Wakefield and District Branch, and will find the loving forever homes they deserve.

If you are able to donate to our campaign to help our branch during our 20th year, we would really appreciate it! No donation is ever too small, and every penny goes a long way in helping the dogs, cats, rabbits, and guinea pigs at our centre. We have lots of fun events going on this year to celebrate our 20th birthday, take a look at our website to find out more about what we're doing and how you can get involved!
