Story
Aureole was born out of the pandemic, starting as a virtual choir to keep people singing whilst they were living in isolation. Now, we continue to bring music and singing to members of our community who may be vulnerable or isolated. We send teams of volunteers out to Care Homes to lead 'singalongs' for residents, with a fantastic and varied choice of songs from our own Aureole Songbook. Our trained leads run dynamic sessions with recent addition of a percussion section and an element of movement and exercise to keep everybody fit, happy and in very buoyant mood!
Our fun and vibrant Parkinsons choir, the Sparky Parkies, which we run in partnership with Parkinsons Jersey, is bringing joy, social opportunities, as well as evidence-based clinical voice therapy to its members. It is so much more than a choir, having a really positive impact on the group members. Parkinsons can weaken the voice and cause problems with comminication. Singing with a specialist vocal expert and exercising the voice with a Speech and Language therapist keep the voice strong and even improve other areas affected by the condition, such as gait and general coordination.
We hope you feel able to make a donation to keep these choir and music programmes growing as we near the end of a highly successful pilot phase, running two projects successfully since we exited the pandemic. Our volunteers and our clients all love the social interaction as much as the singing! We hope to continue to grow our charity, creating a far-reaching programme that can bring joy and wellbeing to many people. Your donation will help us to continue to pay for essential materials and training for our musicians and singers.
