Our Key Stage 3 students are attempting to walk the length of the UK (Lands End to John OGroats - 874 miles) to raise money towards running the Duke of Edinburgh award in the academy which is offered to all students in Year 9.

Story

The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme is the world's leading achievement award for young people, and is highly regarded by Universities, Colleges and Employers. It encourages young people to develop independence, commitment, leadership and teamwork through being involved in a personalised programme of activities.

The award consists of four elements; helping the community/environment; becoming fitter; developing new skills; and planning, training for and completing an expedition.

At OHA we offer the opportunity to participate in the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award to all students when they reach Year 9. All money raised will go towards ensuring that students who wish to participate in the award can be provided with the training and equipment they need to succeed.
