One Pound One Pawstep

Schnauzerfest pays for the veterinary treatment needed by dogs rescued from puppy farms. One pound may not seem much when bills run into thousands but as every dog we help takes a single pawstep towards a healthy life, so each pound helps pay for it.

Story

Dora, Cilla and Clara all once knew just a few feet of concrete as their home. They lived in puppy farms, kept solely to provide puppies for the lucrative trade in dogs. They were given the bare minimum to survive. Just enough to keep them fertile as their value was only what the puppy farmer could make by selling their pups. Our 'One Pound One Pawstep Campaign' asks you to collect one pound regularly and when ready to donate the total so that we can help more dogs like Dora, Cilla and Clara.

All survived long enough to be rescued once the puppy farmer no longer needed them, and all came out with extensive signs of neglect. In Clara's case, unknown to the puppy farmer she was carrying a litter of 10 puppies. She went on to deliver them safely in the care of the Diana Brimblecombe Animal Rescue Centre, but almost lost her life in the process. Her full story and that of her 10 puppies can be read on our website - Clara

Cilla was blind when rescued and received specialist, double cataract surgery. This was partially successful, restoring good sight in one eye. Unfortunately, the other wasn't a success and due to complications and pressure in it, a few years after the original operation, it will be removed.

All these dogs are typical examples of recipients of Schnauzerfest support. Our One Pound One Pawstep Campaign asks you to collect one pound at regular times, one pound a day, a week, a month, or how about having a One Pound Swear Jar at home, or in your workplace. When you're ready and have collected your pounds, donate them to this campaign and help us to transform the lives of more dogs like Dora, Cilla and Clara.

Schnauzerfest provides financial assistance which makes it possible to provide rescue dogs with extensive, expensive veterinary care. The journeys undertaken by dogs like Dora, Cilla and Clara when rescued from puppy farms can be long, complicated and full of setbacks. But, just as they take each step as it comes, so our fundraising takes each pound donation with deep gratitude. We know that collectively, the pounds mount up and will provide enough funds to transform lives. Thank you!
