Dear friends and supporters,

We desperately need your support to help us tackle the Covid disaster that is rapidly spreading across Nepal. There has been a 668% increase in cases over the last two weeks (Oxford university data tracking site) with us receiving frantic daily pleas for help from our friends and colleagues in Nepal. Dr. Kamal (one of our DFN doctors undertaking his internship in Kathmandu) says Our Health system has collapsed... hospitals cannot take patients because we dont have any life-saving Oxygen... we are helpless.

An open border policy with India has lead to rapidly rising numbers of cases of the Indian Covid strain, and Nepals poor medical system and chaotic infrastructure are poorly placed to cope with this disaster.

Patients are presenting to hospitals and health-posts by the hundreds, and they are ill-equipped to do anything other than mutter quiet words of hope. Without international support, many more thousands will die.

We are launching this fundraising campaign to urgently raise funds to provide oxygen concentrators & generators, pulse oximeters (to measure blood oxygen levels) and further supplies of high quality PPE.

We are working closely with the NGO PHASE Nepal - with whom we have a long-standing collaborative relationship, to ensure the procurement of high quality equipment, which will safely reach its destination as quickly as possible.

This equipment will help to save lives, both of patients, plus ensuring the continued safety of our teams working in this high-risk environment.

The hospitals and districts that will receive our equipment are: Kalikot district hospital, the Karnali Academy (Jumla), Mugu District hospital (all far west of Nepal) and Patan Hospital (Kathmandu).
