Story

This year's World Sleep Day will be held on Friday 17th March 2023 and is an annual event intended to be a celebration of sleep and a call to action on important issues relating to sleep. We would like to use this year's World Sleep Day to encourage you to help us give the gift of a good nights sleep to those who desperately need our support.

We are in desperate need of NEW bedding to support women and children who often flee to us in the middle of the night, tired, scared and in dire need of help. Being able to provide a comfy bed when they arrive can play a vital role in helping them to feel welcomed and encouraging women and children to stay where they can be safe and free from the trauma of abuse.

The importance of a good nights sleep is paramount to our health and wellbeing. It can help reduce stress, improve our memory and mood, enhance our immunity and improve our hearts health. To the women and children, we support at The Haven, it means so much more.

We provide every family that stays with us in refuge the necessities they need to feel safe and secure, through vital wrap-around services including counselling and court provision. However, it doesnt stop there. With YOUR help, we can also ensure they have all the homely items and essentials to feel comfortable whilst they recover from the trauma they have been subjected to. A huge part of this is new, soft bedding so they can relax. This includes a fluffy pillow to rest their head on, a warm duvet to wrap themselves in, and a lovely pillow and duvet cover in a pattern they love to really feel like they are at home when they are with us. The children in refuge are also able to select their own duvet sets, enabling them to pick their favourite colour or a character they might recognise and love all to help them feel settled and truly safe.

CAN YOU PLEASE HELP BY DONATING ON WORLD SLEEP DAY?

Whats more, your kind donation will go further than refuge. When women are ready to re-settle into the community, they often leave with very few personal items due to previously leaving everything behind to flee to safety. Thanks to your generous support, we ensure both women and children can take their bedding with them onto the next part of their journey, as they make a fresh start away from a life of abuse. This can help to make their new room, at their new home, feel like home as the items are already familiar to them and is one less thing for Mothers to worry about needing to purchase. Your support makes this possible.

How your donation will help

£5 could buy some new comfy pillows for the women and children to rest their heads at night.

£10 could buy a single duvet set to ensure the women and children always have a warm blanket to wrap themselves up in.

£20 could buy a womens and childrens duvet set enabling them to truly feel at home, choosing a colour or design to suit their needs.

With your help, we can ensure we can help give the gift of a good night's sleep on World Sleep Day, ensuring all women and children have the essentials they need for a safe and warm nights sleep. Thank you so much in advance for your support.
