Story
As we all know, Coronavirus has had a hugely negative economic and social impact across the UK, whether thats job uncertainty or self-isolation preventing many vulnerable people from buying the basic items they need.
That is why in March 2020 London South East Colleges established FE Foodbank Friday. Since setting up this initiative they themselves have transitioned from physical donations centres in their campuses to a flexible and responsive online fundraising campaign, raising just over £6,000 to date.
Due to the success of the initiative and its ability to ensure local communities are supported at this unprecedented time, an online campaign has been rolled out to over 30 other Further Education Colleges, spanning the breath of the UK. Each College has pledged to support the initiative in an open letter and have each set up a Just Giving donation page, collectively raising over £31,000 so far.
As so many Colleges have now signed up, London South East Colleges has launched a second campaign page, which will be used as a national mechanism for employers, communities and other stakeholders to donate to the Colleges at once. London South East Colleges will manage the fund and will distribute all proceeds evenly.
