Story
Last year you helped us raise an amazing £18k to support our community work to promote health and wellbeing. This year's Christmas Appeal will support our year round work with older people to help reduce isolation and increase wellbeing through the arts.
Research shows that taking part in arts activities helps to alleviate anxiety, depression and stress. Almost 60% of people are likely to report good health if they attend a cultural place or event in the past 12 months.
Your donation will allow us to expand our programme and support the delivery of our community work with older people and below are some examples of projects that your donation will support.
Community Choir
Our non-audition group is open to all regardless of experience offering weekly opportunity to have fun with other like-minded people. As a mixed- voiced group singing an eclectic range of popular and contemporary classics this project is based on an understanding that singing improves health and well-being.
Limelighters Dance & Drama
We have a specific programme of activities especially for people ages 50+. This is designed to engage their experience and enthusiasm celebrate their talents and also challenge the stigmas of being older. A creative and enlightening chance to engage in one-off monthly dance or drama sessions inspired by productions on one of our three stages. The focus is on having fun while at the same tie exploring the skills and techniques of the performer, and spending time with likeminded people. No experience necessary.
