Story
The Nelson Trusts Womens Community Services support women that have experienced extensive trauma in their lives.
Its Womens Centre in Somerset is a one-stop-shop where women can access a wide range of support services in a safe environment. The centre offers both practical and emotional support across areas including housing; finances; physical, emotional and mental health; drugs and alcohol; trauma and abuse; sexual exploitation; behaviour; education and training; families and relationships. The Women's Centre includes access to therapeutic interventions including one-to-one support from dedicated key workers. As well as an onsite free crèche provision, shower, washing machine and IT facilities. The aim is to provide wrap around support for a vulnerable woman in need. The Centre provides support to approximately 600 women per year including some of the most difficult to reach and hard to engage women in the County.
We are a group of women living in Somerset that are looking to support The Nelson Trust by raising funds for a minibus. The minibus will enable more women across the County to access the support on offer from the Women's Centre.
The cost of second-hand minibuses has accelerated post pandemic due to lack of new supply, which is why we are fundraising for the Trust to be able to purchase one.
The group is very grateful to everyone who has supported this appeal. In addition to those named as Fundraisers and Supporters on this page, we appreciate the generous donation of £1,000 from the Bullough Tompson Charitable Settlement.
Our fundraising was boosted in March 2024 by an amazing £2,033 raised at our Managing The Menopause Years event at King's College Preparatory School.
Please donate and share our campaign with others and help us reach our goal.
