Story
On July 3rd a feisty crew of 17 daring shipmates will take to the waters in Saltaire to compete against other charity teams as part of the 2022 Bradford Dragon Boat Festival. The Magnificent Millside Mallards will be raising much-needed funds for the Millside Centre as we celebrate our 5th birthday this year!
The Millside Centre is a community centre based in inner-city Bradford. Working alongside local partners, other charities and agencies, we have created a safe and welcoming space where some of the most vulnerable people in the city find the help and services they need.
We run a wide variety of different activities and services each week, serving the refugees and asylum seekers, the homeless, the unemployed, those with mental health issues and victims of domestic abuse.
Our aim is to see lives transformed and to see people reach their full potential.
Here's what is on offer right now:
- English classes
- Job club
- Support groups for domestic abuse victims
- Support for people who are facing homelessness and destitution
- Catering training café and employability project for refugees and asylum seekers
- Befriending Project to reduce isolation
- Out of hours drop-in for those needing mental health support
- Fitness, wellbeing and nutrition sessions
- Digital Skills course
- Knitting group for women to reduce isolation and build friendships
- Weekly singalong session for local care home residents
We have some amazing, dedicated staff as well as a team of passionate volunteers.
Your generous donation will help towards the core costs of running our activities, volunteer expenses, travel costs for vulnerable service users, paying sessional workers and more.
We also hire out our rooms for training events, workshops and counselling if you are ever in need of a city centre venue.
You can find out more about the Millside Centre on our website and it would be amazing if you could follow us on Facebook or Twitter. The Millside Centre is run by the Christian charity Reach Beyond.
Thank you in advance for your generosity as we aim to serve our community, together!
