The Meadows Festival is a free, community festival that takes place annually in June. This community event has run for over 40 years and is one of the few major events in Edinburgh that is run with the primary focus to provide a free community event for the local communities and individuals surrounding the Meadows Park. With constantly increasing fees and our only income from our wonderful stall holders, the Meadows Festival needs you! Please donate if you can, or get in touch if you'd like to sponsor an area of the festival.
The festival is entirely run by volunteers willing to donate their time, effort and expertise, encouraging social cohesion and unity in our community alongside being a great event for thousands of people to enjoy. A wide variety of entertainment and activities is provided and sourced locally. This provides a platform for various creative organisations and groups to showcase their skills:
Main Stage
Totally Sound Futures Stage
Performance Area
Kids' Area
Market Stalls
Dogs Show
Sports Area
EUSA and Stewart Brewing Main Bar
Bar
Community Information Stalls (Police Scotland, Fire Services etc).
Each area has its own goal to support the local community and provide an opportunity for the members of the public to engage with each other and the activities available to them. We aim to include all ages and all backgrounds in every activity that we support.
We aim to provide a platform for career development by providing volunteering opportunities and experiences.
We aim to be a fully environmentally sustainable festival and received the Improvers Award from A Greener Festival for our efforts in 2017.
We aim to raise funds through grants, sponsorship and donations in order to provide these activities for our local community. Without this funding the festival would not be possible.
