Story
Help Us Help Others founder Darren Lake and his eldest son Jamie are set to reach for the skies to raise money for Help Us Help Others.
Having always donated to charity but always concerned where the money was going Darren Lake founded Help Us Help Others over 5 years ago, not only to give support to individuals that couldn't get help from anyone else or where our system was failing them, but to also have oversight on where every penny is spent.
To date Darren and Jamie have played their part to assist Help Us Help Others raise tens of thousands of pounds that has positively changed individuals lives, provided much needed equipment for those less able and even given those sadly no longer with us the ability to fulfil a final wish or spend a bit more precious time with their families.
Both Darren and Jamie have a taste for the extreme but this challenge is going to be their biggest yet. When asked why the Matterhorn? Darren said Ive personally always wanted to climb the Matterhorn but life always got in the way, Ive now hit my early 50s and I know its now or never, I know this wont be easy but then nothing worth doing ever is! When asked the same question Jamie said dad booked the climb and messaged me and my brothers straight away and as soon as he did I wanted to make sure I was on the trip with him! Help Us Help Others is close to my heart and I have done a lot of work over the past few years to raise money and I saw this as an opportunity to take it a step further than we have previously and aim to raise a significant amount of money that will help those the most in need.
You can read about Charlie & Oliver Essex here and discover more about these two fantastic children and why the help from HUHO will mean so much to them and their family.
Darrens final words were I hope our efforts will support Help Us Help Others in raising a substantial amount of money that will enable the charity to significantly change more peoples lives. I have a feeling it will be needed more than ever after the impact Covid-19 is having on the country.
The climbers hope you will all help them to hit their target and wish them the best of luck in achieving their 4,478m goal!
