From the Maharishi Foundation Trustees and Board:-
We hope you are keeping safe and well, and that you are being supported through these unusual times through your practice of Transcendental Meditation and its advanced programmes.
It has certainly been an unusual year for Maharishi Foundation, and its trustees, management, Teachers, staff, and volunteers challenging in some ways and rewarding in others.
We say challenging because it has been difficult, sometimes impossible, for our Teachers to do what they do best teach TM; rewarding because, even with many staff on furlough and volunteers in lockdown, the Foundation has still been able to continue with a number of essential activities and press on quietly with projects that, during normal times, often demand more time than is practically available.
For example, a small team responsible for supporting new and longer-term Meditators has found its time most usefully employed; our IT team has been able to press ahead with the implementation of an organization-wide customer relationship management system; the public relations team has found time to evaluate past performance and plan for the future; while the finance department has been working to support the Foundation through this period.
Which brings us to our point:
Until October, the Foundation had managed to weather the storm of Covid-19 with remarkable resilience, even with greatly reduced income from teaching TM that is the lifeblood of the Charity. Following the first lockdown, the Foundation was encouraged by a significant increase in those coming to learn TM from July to September. However, after a short period seeing some teaching income return, we are now faced with a new lockdown! In the interest of the safety of our Teachers and their students alike, TM teaching has once again had to be suspended, at least until 2nd December.
This being the case, and with reserves having been all but exhausted, we are writing to you, and all of the well-wishers of Maharishi's organisation, to ask whether you would be able to help the Foundation financially until the end of the year. Crucially, we need to be able to continue the same most basic level of functioning as during the first lockdown, so that, when lockdown ends and TM teaching can start again, we are prepared to help those who need that help most especially those who have been struggling with the stress and anxiety caused during these long months of Covid-19 restrictions.
In order to do this, we need your support please to maintain a basic level of customer relations, administration, IT support, public and media relations, and finances. Once we lose the momentum, which is very easy to do, it will take so much longer to gather it again, at the very moment when people need our services the most.
Even with the majority of staff on furlough and volunteers on lockdown, Maharishi Foundation needs £25,000 to sustain itself through November and December. By this time, everyone hopes that TM teaching will be able to resume.
We would be most grateful if you could contribute in any way, great or small.
If you have any questions, please call Norma or Helen on 01695 51213 or email us on ukenquiries@tm.org.
Above all, please take great care of yourselves and be regular in your meditation during these challenging times.
With warmest regards
Jai Guru Dev
