Story

Friends of Burford, on behalf of Burford School, are delighted to announce Marlow Bottom's Annual Scarecrow Festival is back again this year.

We are again challenging the residents and businesses of Marlow Bottom to come up with their funniest and most creative scarecrows using everyday items you already have available. Your scarecrow can be any shape or size as long as it is not offensive or particularly gruesome and can be visibly displayed at the front of your own property from the start of the trail on Sunday 27th October to the end on Sunday 3rd of November.

Scarecrow entries can be submitted any time between now and the 14th October. All entries submitted by this closing date will be included on the official scarecrow trail map, copies of which will be available from Tin Town Coffee, The Barn Club and Da Luca at a cost of £3 per map (or £5 for 2 maps). There are voting slips at the back of the map for people to choose their favorite ones to win.

To enter your scarecrow please send an email with your name and address to scarecrow@friendsofburford.org.uk

We are inviting all of those who are participating by displaying a scarecrow to donate towards our charity for Burford School. Friends of Burford will donate 100% of the funds raised to the school to be put towards funding school projects and school improvements.

All of Marlow Bottom's residents and visitors will be able to enjoy the festival by following the trail around the village. Maps will be available to purchase from Sunday 27th of October for £3 (or £5 for 2) from Tin Town, the Barn Club and Da Luca. Please note there will not be a digital option for the map this year, the above business opening details are as follows:

Barn Club opening times: Everyday during the event 11 am - 11pm, parking spaces available, food served 11 am - 5pm, free kids disco everyday 4pm - 6pm

Tin Town opening times: Mon-Fri 7:30 am - 4 pm, Sat 8 am - 2 pm, Sun 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

DaLuca opening times: Tue-Fri 10 am - 2:30 pm 5 pm - 10 pm, Sat-Sun 12 pm - 10 pm

We appreciate any support that you can give. Thank you!

About the charity

FOB organises events to help raise funds for the school and to improve links between staff and parents. We aim to raise at least £12,500 per year, which helps to fund the school’s IT provision and major projects such as the hall extension, the new music room (2018), the Reception garden revamp (summer 2019) and the new AV equipment for the hall and Burford’s exciting new outdoor spaces project (2020 and ongoing). Our jam-packed events calendar has something for everyone. We run a number of regular events including the Summer Social and Camping, our bi-annual Winter Banquet, Kids’ Cinema nights and discos, Quiz and Comedy nights and not forgetting our annual Marlow Bottom Scarecrow Trail.
