Story
Hi, my name is Darren and welcome to my Campaign page.
My sister Jacky (below) was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma back in July 2015. Since then, she has had three lots of treatment to help to try and get rid of the cancer. Firstly, she had chemotherapy that put her into remission in December 2016. The cancer unfortunately reoccurred in July 2016 and she was given an stem cell transplant which put her back in remission in February 2017. Sadly the cancer reoccurred again in September 2021 and we thought there was no other treatment.
Amazingly modern science gave her another chance with CAR T-cell therapy. It is nothing short of a modem medical miracle that she is a live and this is all thanks to research and clinical trials that Cure Leukaemia are currently funding.
To raise funds for more research, my friend Sarah Wilson and I (along with anyone else who would like to run with us) are intending to run a number of marathons in the next year - including 4 marathons in 4 days this November! The 4 marathons will take place around the Fewston and Swinsty reservoirs in Yorkshire run by It's Grim Up North and will take place across 17th-20th November 2022.
The team will be aiming to raise much needed money for Cure Leukaemia in their mission to find a cure for all Blood Cancer.
Cure Leukaemia helps blood cancer patients to access pioneering drug and transplant treatments by funding a network of specialist research nurses across the UK. Without these nurses, to ensure patients are monitored and cared for, clinical trials of these new treatments would not run and patients, that have exhausted standard treatment options, would miss out on potentially lifesaving therapies. Every penny raised for Cure Leukaemia helps save lives and also hastens global progress towards the eradication of all forms of blood cancer.
So from Jacky, myself and Sarah, Thank you!
