Can you help us LIGHT UP PORTREE?

Highland Council no longer has a dedicated budget to provide Christmas trees and lights. Communities must now fund their own. A group of residents have come together, joining forces with the Portree and Braes Community Trust and now need your help to ensure that Portree has Christmas lights this year and for many years to come. Our plans are ambitious. We want to provide decorations and celebrations that will make Skye proud. Were very exited about creating memorable festive events that we can build on in future years.

This requires a lot of fundraising and community spirit and we would love you to get involved.

Initial costs will be high. We need around £10,000 to source a tree and buy street lights but we hope these will light up our Christmases for many years to come. Some of the lights may be used to brighten the village all year round.

If you have other ideas for fundraising, wed love to hear about them. Well be happy to help organise fundraising events. Could your club, school or workplace hold a bake-sale or raffle? Would you take on a sponsored challenge? We welcome any offers of help and donations...no matter how small.
