Platform 1 is a unique mental health charity delivering professional mental health care and support. The charity works throughout Kirklees and beyond delivering one to one support and welfare checks along with group therapies.

The charity started five years ago as a mens support group but has now developed into something unique and different. We work with people who have attempted to take their own lives and with families who have had a family member who has taken their own lives. We work with bereavement, anxiety, depression. sexual identity issues and a multitude of other issues that people suffer from, and we are often a light in the darkness for those suffering.

We offer crisis interventions which deal with issues where counselling or medical interventions are not needed, but support is. Many of our crisis interventions deal with day to day living problems such as housing issues or benefit problems, form filling or relationship problems. We deal with many people who find it difficult to access statutory service and many of the people we work with live in isolation. Some of the people we work with have no other means of help and have or still do self-harm, lots of these people are hard to reach and can sometimes be difficult to engage.

Now Platform 1 has its own crisis, due to lack of funding. We need to raise funds quickly so we can keep on supporting people and communities who are in desperate need of our help.
