Leith Theatre embodies the motto of Leith - Persevere!

Here at Leith Theatre we are dedicated to preserving and protecting this architectural and cultural gem in the heart of Leith's community. The Leith Theatre Project is about breathing a second life into this incredible building, realising its full potential and establishing its place for future generations.

With funding from the National Heritage Lottery Fund a detailed consultation exercise was carried out and a need for two stages of refurbishment and intervention have been defined.

Thanks to continued support from the City of Edinburgh Council, National Heritage Lottery Fund, Architectural Heritage Fund, community members and friends and family, Leith Theatre is now embarking on the ambitious realisation of Phase 1 of The Leith Theatre Project.

Phase 1 is a set of building interventions that focus on the priority alterations required to obtain a public entertainment license and enable the buildings full-time operation. Phase 1 will ensure we are able to make this incredible building warm, wind-proof, water-tight and upgraded to full electrical capacity to the Main Stage and throughout the building. These essential refurbishments will allow us to move beyond our current pop-up status and fully realise the ambition of our artistic potential.

As you are reading this, works have already commenced to upgrade the electrical capacity of the entire complex. Earlier in the year the money to get this ball rolling was graciously given by the City of Edinburgh Council but in order to secure further funds and complete Phase 1 works, WE NEED YOUR HELP!

The money raised for these crucial initial works will allow Leith Theatre to operate autonomously and to grow sustainably, both of which are imperative goals to achieve for vibrant short-term operation as well as realising Phase 2 opportunities and establishing the long-term future of this beautiful venue.
