Story
We deal with all diseases of the head and neck but are internationally recognised as a treatment and research centre for head and neck cancer, which is a devastating disease and a major healthcare problem in the Liverpool region.
Any donation plays a crucial role in our fight against this and other diseases, not only for patients in Cheshire and Merseyside but for the benefit of all head and neck patients, by understanding more about the biology of disease and developing new ways of diagnosing and treating it. With a large centre comprised of both clinician and patient groups working together towards this common aim, we have identified four key strategy arms that urgently need charitable support:
Translational research
Funds used for MD/PhD academic research support, start-up funding for novel research projects and trials
Clinical nursing
Nursing staff support and development including both ward and outpatient-based teams
Head & Neck Cancer Patient and Carer Support Group (HaNC)
Continued development of our pioneering survivorship research program, supporting close links between our clinical and patient groups
Education
Prioritising medical educational through courses/conference support, teaching development, simulation and leadership
If you would like to specify how you would like all or a % of your donation to be split between these initiatives, please add this information on the donation form. Alternatively, if you would like to discuss in more detail, please contact our centre manager Julie Crane (abbottj@liverpool.ac.uk).
