Story
We are delighted to announce that our exciting 3G pitch development project is now well underway! Our application to the Football Foundation needs to ensure that we have a significant contribution from our school and local community.
The project is the construction of a new full-size (106x70m) floodlit 3G Football Turf Pitch (FTP) at the Kings Langley School in Hertfordshire.
The school has a variety of sports facilities which includes a four court sports hall, multi-use games areas and a variety of grass pitches used for football, rugby and cricket. The school already offers community provision but this project would provide a much needed 3G FTP facility at the site for training and playing matches.
There are a number of partner organisations that are supporting the project. Kings Langley FC and Chipperfield Corinthians FC are key stakeholders and the project would support them in growing the game locally. Both Clubs are committed to growing the female game and creating opportunities for players with a disability. Watford Community Sport and Education Trust would operate a skills centre for U7s to U14s and a Player Development Centre for Girls for U10s to U16s. Another partner in the project is the charity Herts School Outreach, a support service to promote and enhance positive mental health change for children and young people across the UK.
There would also be space for a small sided league and further recreational and informal football sessions as well as the obvious usage from our 1000+ students during the day and for after school clubs.
We want to be a leader in the promotion of health and wellbeing and deliver a high quality sporting environment. This development will enable our students and our local community to play, enjoy and benefit from sport, whether they are a beginner, enthusiastic amateur or an elite performer.
