During this pandemic, families everywhere are having to spend more time in-doors than ever before. Shelter and food are important necessities we all think about, especially during these winter months, but we rarely talk about the importance of keeping the lights on. When a family is struggling, the electric bill is often the first thing to go unpaid. When the lights go off, the food in your refrigerator goes bad, children must play and learn in the dark, and the hours in the day get even shorter. It is not just disheartening; it is detrimental to the health of the entire family.
At La Casa Norte, we know firsthand the importance of keeping the lights on for our community. For young parents like Ashanti, electricity for her first apartment is around $50 a month. Between our permanent, transitional, and emergency housing programs, La Casa Norte spends over $70,000 a year to keep the lights on. Help us continue to be a beacon of light for the youth and families we serve this holiday season. Please consider making a gift of $100 to support our mission.
This holiday season, your support will help us keep the lights on for the thousands of youth and families we serve each year at
La Casa Norte. Thank you in advance and I look forward to everything we will be able to achieve together in 2021 as we continue to serve our community.
