Story
Colleagues from the University of Edinburgh's School of Social and Political Science (SPS) have challenged themselves to raise at least £5,000 in aid of student study support. They will traverse 500 miles (and possibly 500 more) in memory of their colleague and friend Professor John Peterson.
Peterson was at the forefront of teaching and research in areas including US-European relations, EU policy, US foreign policy and international trade. While at Edinburgh he engaged countless students, scholars and practitioners through his lectures and seminars, policy analysis, research projects and supervision of research students.
John was more a scholar than sportsman, but he nonetheless relished (watching) sport, especially the Boston Red Sox, perhaps one of the finest baseball teams in Boston/US/world (depending on the year, and your own predisposition). With that in mind we are seeking volunteers to run/walk/cycle/throw a baseball/jog the equivalent of 500 miles during the baseball playoff month of October. Crucially - we're also seeking sponsors who will support them.
All money raised will go to the John Peterson Memorial Fund which will support a range of PhD studentships in the School of Social and Political Science, with particular focus on PhD study in areas linked to John's scholarly expertise.
We hope you can give generously. Thanks.
