It truly takes a City to end poverty. Without your support some of our homeless sisters and brothers may not be able to access clean underwear when they need it and charities like Winter Comfort for the Homeless and Jimmy's Cambridge have no choice but to buy underwear at retail prices, eating into their welfare budgets that could be better used. Bare Necessities ONLY buys wholesale which means we get much better value for every penny donated by you, the general public, for the benefit of the homeless in the city.

The below image is from Winter Comfort for the Homeless. This shows the level of Dignity being offered to our sisters and brothers who use their service. Being afforded the basic dignity of a shower and clean, suitable clothing is really vital in the process of ending the cycle of suffering our homeless sisters and brothers face.

Has Bare Necessities met your service user's needs for underwear at your centres (since July 2020)?

Jimmys Cambridge: Yes, it has. It has been very helpful to be able to offer fresh underwear to our residents in need and residents were very happy to receive it. It is simple things like underwear, that make such a big difference to people who have come into our service.

Winter Comfort for the Homeless: Absolutely! We havent had to purchase any underwear for service users since July 2020. It has been incredibly helpful for our team to know that we have a ready supply of good quality items to distribute and of course, this has also been very helpful in reducing our costs.

Caring for Cambridgeshires Homeless: Absolutely! From an outreach point of view and supporting those who dont access the services therefore cant access underwear, its crucial for CCH to have boxers, knickers etc to hand out in the evening. Boxers are the most requested along with socks.

Have your service users made any comments or observations about either the quality or availability of underwear since Bare Necessities started supplying in bulk?

Jimmys Cambridge: Residents were happy and grateful to receive new underwear and were happy with the quality of it. Thank you very much for taking the time to provide these for us.

Winter Comfort for the Homeless: Our Service Users have been very pleased with the quality and constant quantity we have had in stock in recent times and are very grateful Bare Necessities provides this service. They also really appreciate being able to choose their own underwear from the stock you supply. We display them in categorised drawers for ease of identification and that they can choose their own underwear see the attached images.

From our perspective as a voluntary group your donations have been a life saver. To be able to afford a person a bit of dignity by offering them underwear is often as important as the food we give them. Their thanks and gratitude is often very humbling. So we in turn cant thank you guys enough.
