The hospital in Beira, Mozambique, has been badly damaged by the recent devastating Cyclone Idai, and the Ipswich Beira Hospital Rescue Appeal is raising money to help the hospital resume their vital work treating traumatised and injured survivors, and local patients.
Between 2003 and 2014, the charity The Ipswich Beira Health Initiative, raised money to support a medical training school set up by Dr John Day, sending clinical staff from Ipswich hospital for short stays in Beira, to help train a new generation of doctors, and to improve facilities at the hospital. The charity was able to close after achieving their aims, leaving the doctors they trained to pass on their knowledge to the next generation of medics.
The original trustees have formed a fundraising committee, supported by Colchester and Ipswich Hospitals Charity, and your donations will help to repair and re-equip the hospital in Beira. Thank you.
