This fund is designed to alleviate an immediate need when a student is in financial crisis, due to job loss, unexpected home or car repairs, childcare costs, to name a few. During the pandemic we have distributed over $280,000 of Cares Act dollars to students in need. Those monies are almost depleted, and we will be relying once again on individual donations. One of the biggest challenges for community colleges is preventing degree-seeking students from dropping out prior to completion. Financial issues are often a key obstacle.
