Home-Start Lambeth improves the life chances of some of London's most vulnerable children by supporting their parents to meet their needs. We offer support, friendship and practical help to families with children under five who are struggling to cope, so that no child's future is limited.
The current cost of living crisis has deepened many of the disadvantages experienced by the communities we support. Families are experiencing increased financial hardship, mental health issues, isolation and stress, which will be impacting on children's physical and emotional wellbeing.
The families we support tell us that our emotional & practical help increases their confidence and wellbeing, therefore improving their children's quality of life.
Examples of the practical support we offer is empowering parents to find and access services and events, such as budgeting workshops, food and clothes banks and family groups (such as our weekly baby and toddler groups), where they can meet other families who are going through the same struggles. Examples of the emotional support we offer is listening and empathising with parents so that they feel understood and acknowledged and have the strength to keep going.
