Huskie Helpers is a club at OPRF that is committed to helping Hephzibah Children's Association. Hephzibah is a child welfare agency in Oak Park, Illinois. As Oak Park's oldest charity, their mission is to help children thrive and families flourish through innovative, community-based programs (https://www.hephzibahhome.org/) .
As a Huskie Helper, we work mainly with Hephzibah Home, where abused and neglected young children come to heal and grow. Some of the activities that we have done as a Huskie Helper is taken the group home children to numerous OPRF sporting events, gone rock climbing, hosted movie nights and dance parties at the group home. During COVID, we have hosted many virtual events to stay connected with the Hephzibah Home kids. The event that we are planning now is the end of the year rodeo, and will be held in-person again!
The end of the year rodeo, which takes place every June, is a great way to celebrate a productive and successful school year for the group home kids. One of the side effects for children who have experienced family trauma is poor academic performance. The rodeo recognizes the progress that the children made at school and socially, which is even more important this year than ever! Each year, the group home kids look forward to this fun-filled event!
The club members look forward to the rodeo each year and we need your help to make this one they wont forget! We are raising money to make the day special for the Hephzibah Home kids! Will you help us reach our team goal? Anything helps! Thank you in advance!
