This scholarship is established in memory of Dr. Henry North. He was a native of Houston, Texas, and a son of Dr. Henry and Alice (Newson) North. His life was committed to Christ and he was baptized in the Fifth Ward Church of Christ in Houston.
Dr. North graduated from Texas Southern University and became a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He completed a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences with a focus in Medicinal Chemistry at Howard University. He joined the Harding University College of Pharmacy faculty in 2013 where he was an Associate Professor and was named Chairman of the Assessment Committee during the 2021 academic year.
Dr. North had a servant heart and spent many hours volunteering with the Searcy Lions Club, 100 Black Men of Greater Little Rock and various other organizations. Dr. North believed in the power of education and loved teaching. This scholarship will be awarded to a second or third-year student with a heart for serving those in underrepresented minority communities.
