Story
As a result of the Coronavirus epidemic and the lockdown of the UK, the RSPCA York, Harrogate & District Branch has seen almost all of its income stop. There are very few grants available for animal charities and as such we rely heavily on self generated income and fundraising. All of our spring events are now cancelled, our three charity shops are closed, people cannot leave their homes to donate food and we can longer continue rehoming.
Unlike other businesses we cannot stop operating at this time, other countries have seen a rise in animal abandonments and our animals still need to be looked after.
The York Animal Home costs around £60,000 a month to run. We have limited reserves and if the lockdown continues for longer than a month will be at very real risk of having to close down.
Our supporters have already shown us such generosity and we know it's a huge ask at a time of financial uncertainty for so many of you, but we'll need more support if we're to survive this crisis.
Donate to this campaign if you can. Share it with your friends. Talk to your employers. Run an online fundraising campaign. Donate food online.
Whatever you can do, we appreciate it!
