My Story - by Hannah King-Page
In October 2020 after a few months of what I now know to be focal seizures I was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Following a whirlwind month of appointments and scans I had brain surgery to debulk the tumour and later was diagnosed with a grade 4 Glioblastoma on 30th November 2020.
Following surgery it was like I'd had a stroke on my right side. Nothing worked. I couldn't walk, sit myself up, write or speak properly. As a physio this was TERRIFYING.
All of this in the second lockdown, alone in hospital.
The weeks and months following surgery I was glad we were in lockdown, as I could hibernate and hide my ever inflating face and torso from steroids, chemo, radiotherapy and whatever else they threw at it.
I gained 5 stone in weight, and blew up to a size 22, Lost all my hair, my periods stopped and was retired through ill health from a career I loved.
Since then I have come a long way. I have ran 2 half marathons and through that have raised funds for Brain Tumour Research.
I first came across Brain Tumour Research online, and found their information and contact a comfort. This charity and the people that are part of it are an invaluable asset to the brain tumour community, and for them - its personal.
This is why I am so passionate about raising further funds for them, with Hannah's Kingdom.
Brain tumours are the biggest killers of children and those under 40-yet just receives 1% of the annual spend on cancer research.
Thank you so so much for supporting me to support others in the crappiest club no one would choose to be in.
