HIPZ is a small charity with big plans to improve healthcare for everyone in Zanzibar. Our programmes improve hospitals and health services that are used by 1.8 million people. From maternal and child health to emergency medicine and mental health, we deliver long-lasting, locally led change.

Story

Covid-19 is ravaging the world right now. Everyone, everywhere is affected.

We know that the situation in Zanzibar is far from unique, but we exist to help the Zanzibari people and that is what we want to continue to do.

September 2020 Update: Right now in Zanzibar there are so many ongoing ramifications of Coronavirus. Medical supplies are scarce, the Zanzibari people are experiencing huge losses from the economic impact of the pandemic and people's mental and physical health are suffering as a result. We want to keep the hospitals stocked with essential supplies, keep delivering our mental health programme, and keep investing in healthcare workers in Zanzibar so that their health system can withstand the long term impacts of the virus, and keep providing basic medical services.

We know many of you are struggling too, this is a scary time and the need is huge. What we can promise you is that if you choose to support us we will spend your money wisely and it will make a huge difference. We want to be able to make it through 2020 and out the other side in one piece so that we can support Zanzibar through and after, this pandemic. Please consider helping the people of Zanzibar by supporting HIPZ.
