Story
HART Wildlife Rescue is one of Hampshire's largest wildlife rehabilitation centres, rescuing over 3,600 wild animals every year. We operate out of a custom-made wildlife rehabilitation centre based in Medstead, near Alton, where we treat animals from across Hampshire, in addition to parts of Surrey, Berkshire, and Wiltshire. Working closely with veterinary practices, the RSPCA, police and members of the public, our work sees wild animals rescued, rehabilitated, and released back into the wild, often after negative interactions with humans.
With the ever-worsening economic situation in the UK we have found that not only have we rescued a record number of animals this year so far, but our costs are going up at a time when income from donations has been decreasing. We desperately need your help to cover our increased costs from this year.
In the last year HART has witnessed a significant drop in direct giving. As a charity that relies 100% on our supporters kindness to survive, this has a huge impact on our ability to function, and, with numbers in the hospital reaching record levels, it couldnt come at a worse time.
We understand that it is a difficult time for many; Charities Aid Foundation suggests that nearly five million people are now giving less than this time last year. However, just as individuals are feeling the pinch, HART Wildlife Rescue is undergoing the same crisis as our running costs rise exponentially, costing us approximately £16,000 a month to undertake our work rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing British wildlife.
It is our mission to give the best possible care to all of our wild patients. We believe passionately that we need wildlife just as much as it needs us and HART plays a vital role in helping slow the decline of many wild species, promoting biodiversity and alleviating suffering.
