Scotland Welcomes Refugees and Migrants!
Tim from France, Maria from Sweden and Razgar from Kurdistan, all are friends and supporters of Positive Action in Housing, a small Scottish refugee and migrant homelessness and human rights charity based in Glasgow. Tim, Maria and Razgar give their time both professionally and personally to helping others to rebuild their lives.
They are getting together to raise awareness of the global refugee crisis and our work to help refugee and migrant families rebuild their lives.
Our Lifeline Service offers advice, shelter, and crisis support and helps people rebuild their lives. In 2017-18, we distributed over £60K in crisis support to refugees from Syria, Eritrea, Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, Palestine. We also arrange thousands of nights of shelter in the homes of our volunteers for refugees, refused asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants left destitute by current asylum laws.
Positive Action in Housing is a Scottish based refugee and migrant homelessness charity (SC027577) helping families and individuals to rebuild their lives. We offer free advice, information and practical support. We pro-actively support refugees in Europe.
We run a free, confidential and independent homelessness advice service. We provide advice and information . We provide money advice and financial skills. We support migrants to gain the papers to secure employment, self-employment and stabilise their lives. We run an Emergency Hardship Fund for those in greatest need. We provide free shelter for destitute refugees and their families through a UK network of over 7,000 volunteers through our pioneering Room for Refugees Network. We persistently challenge the xenophobic rhetoric directed at refugees by governments and the media.
