The festive season for many will be different this year and with a variety of challenges since the COVID-19 outbreak. This is no different for the women, children and young people we support. Those experiencing domestic abuse will be facing extra barriers and heightened levels of stress with further restrictions in the lead up to the holidays. Our workers are experts in this field and will continue to work tirelessly in supporting survivors and their children during this difficult time. But we need your help.
In order to be able to keep providing this level of support through the festive season and beyond in lockdown, donations are essential. Women and families will still be needing to flee into refuge, will still be needing to speak to someone on our helpline who is able to understand and give advice and will still need to find opportunities for support when the public message is to stay at home. Please, if you can, donate to our fundraising campaign, donations in the past have:
- Ensured a full-time position of a Crisis Support Worker for a whole year
- Group support sessions for families
- Food vouchers and activity packs for families in refuge
- Put together a journaling book for the young people leaving refuge to help them transition into our Follow On service
